Every two weeks here at The Odd Slipper, we’ll be bringing you “In Her Shoes” - an inside look into the shoe tips & tricks by petite-footed women in fashion.
We’re very excited to announce this week’s petite lady & Seattle native, Irene Tran of Couture Petite!
How did you get into cosplaying, and what’s your favorite part about it? I was always fascinated with cosplaying as a teenager because it was so much fun to get into a character. Cosplaying, much like fashion, has been and continues to be a way of expressing myself. It allows me to learn how to be creative with my clothing and push my own boundaries when planning a costume - especially when I’m on a tighter budget. I almost always look for pieces that I can incorporate into my normal wardrobe.
What is your favorite pair of shoes that you own, and why? It’s a toss up between the red wedges pictured above and my navy blue Steve Madden Mary Jane platforms. I bought the red wedges at a thrift store in SF and instantly fell in love with them. I love the height of both shoes and they’re both much more comfortable than they look. :)
Do you have any footwear-related New Year’s resolutions?I definitely want to be more daring with my shoe selection this year.  I’m excited to wear more 5” heels and experiment with new eye-catching colors. ;)
What do you predict 2012’s footwear trend being?I think we’ll definitely see more ankle strap pumps.
What advice do you have for petite-footed women?Just like bras, never, ever settle for a shoe that doesn’t fit.  I idiotically wore a size 6 for years. The moment I tried on a size 4.5, my life changed. I can now run in sky high heels - not joking.
